About Madrigal:
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.

Role Overview:
The Director of Corporate FP&A is a newly created role to lead all enterprise-wide financial planning activities, consolidation of global forecast inputs, creation of enterprise level content / reporting, and co-lead the coordination and alignment of strategic planning.  This individual will collaborate closely with the executive leadership team, broader finance team, and build partnerships with key functions including Investor Relations, Business Development, and Business Planning & Operations.  Candidates should have a strong background in the pharma/biotech industry, with experience in enterprise / corporate level FP&A.  Developing scalable and efficient processes will be a key part of this role to start, evolving into a more strategic position over time.  This is a hybrid position, requiring 3 days/week in Madrigal’s Conshohocken, PA office

Position Responsibilities:
  • FP&A Planning: Lead the planning and calendarization of all FP&A planning activities…working backward from the ultimate deliverables (ELT / BoD mtg).  Ensure clear communication on expected deliverables and timelines.  This includes the Annual Budget, Mid-Range Plan (3 year), Long-Range Plan (10+ year), quarterly re-forecasts, and intra-quarterly latest views.
  • Financial System Governance: Own internal FP&A planning/reporting tool, including configuration changes and control environment.  Lead the evaluation and implementation of future potential solutions.
  • Cash Planning: Lead cash planning efforts enterprise wide.  Maintain cash forecasting model.  Monthly and quarterly variance analysis to ensure feedback loop to constantly improve cash forecasting ability.
  • People Related Expense Planning: Maintain excel-based salary planning model & equity comp planning model.  Align with FP&A business partners and HR (HR Ops / Talent Acquisition / Total Rewards) on planning assumptions and recruiting timelines.
  • Corporate Model: Maintain internal corporate (long term, 3-statement) model with various scenarios.  Maintain internal view on possible valuation perspectives.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly & quarterly enterprise level financials (P&L and Cash summary) for internal insights & leadership visibility.  Create scalable and repeatable enterprise level content/visualizations for various review cycles at both the ELT and BoD level.  Coordinate and consolidate global business level inputs into broader Enterprise level presentation material.
  • Strategic Support: Alongside Head of FP&A, serve as co-partner for general strategic support.  Partner with Investor Relations to ensure strong line of communication and feedback loop is in place with investor/analyst base.  Partner with Business Development and broader BD strategy team to ensure proper financial review of potential M&A targets.  Partner with Head of Business Planning and various leadership on LCM (Life Cycle Management) approach and ensure proper financial review of potential paths.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
    • MBA / CPA preferred
  • 10+ years relevant finance and/or accounting experience
    • 4+ years FP&A experience
    • 2+ years of Corporate FP&A experience preferred
  • 4+ years in the pharma/biotech/life sciences industry
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP Accounting
  • Expert proficiency with Excel
  • Experience with FP&A / CPM solutions (Datarails, OneStream, Adaptive etc.)
  • Strong communication & presentational skills
    • Ability to modulate communication approach for different audiences and occasions
  • Advanced planning and coordination ability in a cross-functional, matrix environment
  • Requires limited travel, with up to 20% for team meetings or key business engagements
  • Required to be in office 3 days per week (Conshohocken, PA or Waltham, MA)
Compensation:
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
