Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.

Access Reimbursement Manager

Preferred location: Milwaukee, Madison, North Chicago

The role of the Access Reimbursement Manager (ARM) is to minimize access and reimbursement barriers for patients and providers related to Resmetirom.  They will accomplish this by executing the Patient Access strategic plan in a dedicated geographic area with physicians and institutional customers.

The ARM will work closely with internal and external partners including HCP’s, Specialty Pharmacies, Madrigal Patient Support hub and their staff involved in securing appropriate access for Resmetirom.  They will work closely with Market Access, Trade and Sales partners in the field, supporting accounts in resolving reimbursement issues and concerns. The ARM is expected to have a deep working knowledge of both public and private payer policies within their market, as it relates to Resmetirom coverage and access.

As with all employees, ARMs are fully accountable for compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct of Madrigal activities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Proactively educate prescriber office personnel on access expectations so the HCP may help appropriate patients gain access to Rezdiffra, through virtual and face to face interactions.
  • Reactively address patient/case specific issues and provide issue resolution across the assigned geography.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge in reimbursement and access across many Patient Support Programs and be the subject matter expert in the geography.
  • Educate and enhance awareness of patient access support offerings, including Hub services, Copay Support etc. 
  • Ensure providers understand payer prior authorization requirements, appeals process, and clinical criteria as it relates to Rezdiffra.
  • Work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve target objectives and meet established MBO’s/goals.
  • Remain current on key managed care, reimbursement, and policy activities, at the local, regional and national level.
  • Serve as an expert on business trends within key provider accounts.  
  • Ensure timely follow-up that demonstrates urgency to both the account and the patient.
  • Ability to monitor SP data; identify issues related to patient access and take quick action to pull necessary stakeholders together to resolve issues expediently.
  • Develop and execute an action plan consisting of prioritized activities to best meet the needs of patients.
  • Work closely with the external and internal customers to trouble shoot any SP related issues.
  • Closely collaborate with the SP account management to solve any customer related issues directly with the SP’s.
  • Responsive to internal sales team’s request for support around appropriate patient issues
  • This will require an estimated 25% overnight travel.  This can vary by region and will be confirmed in initial screening.
  • In-person interactions are valued as a way to build strong relationships, conduct in-depth analysis and provide on-site support.  This role will require approximately 25% of interactions with healthcare providers to be in-person.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • BA/BS Degree and at least 5 years of pharma, biopharmaceutical, and/or medical device experience calling on field-based customers.
  • Minimum of 2 years of reimbursement or relevant managed care experience.
  • Proven ability to thrive in both an independent setting and within a collaborative cross functional team.
  • Excellent analytical skills focusing on patients and customers, identifying trends and solutions.
  • Strong prioritization skills aligned with good decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to condense complex reimbursement issues into simple solutions.
  • Ability to lead without authority.
  • Strong oral, written and group communication skills.

Compensation:

The expected annual base salary range for this role is between $170,000 – $220,000.  Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
