Senior Director, Government Affairs
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.
Role Overview:
Madrigal is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Director of Government Affairs to lead and manage our governmental relations strategy. This position will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our interactions with government entities and advocating for our organizational policy priorities. Candidates for this role must have a strong command of healthcare policy, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and an ability collaborate cross-functionally to support Madrigal’s policy objectives.
Position Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive government affairs strategies to advance Madrigal's policy objectives.
- Advocacy: Represent Madrigal in interactions with federal, state, and local government officials, agencies, and legislative bodies. Advocate for policies that support our mission and strategic goals.
- Policy Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of proposed legislation and regulations. Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership on potential impacts and opportunities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, industry groups, and advocacy organizations. Collaborate with internal and external partners to advance Madrigal's policy objectives.
- Communication: Develop and deliver clear and compelling messages to government officials, stakeholders, and the public. Prepare talking points, position papers, and other materials to effectively communicate Madrigal's positions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Support the company's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that may impact Madrigal's operations.
- Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, law, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field, with a focus on healthcare/biopharma.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing government relations strategies.
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex policy issues.
- Comfortable with travel, up to 25% depending on location.
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
