Manager, Corporate Communications and Patient Advocacy
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.
Role Overview:
The Manager, Corporate Communications and Patient Advocacy will be a key contributor in shaping the future reputation and success of Madrigal. This candidate will have high visibility within the company during a pivotal and exciting time of growth. Candidates for this role must have strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability collaborate cross-functionally to drive vital communications and patient advocacy functions, including some administrative duties.
Position Responsibilities:
- Corporate Communications:
- With company business objectives and values in mind, collaborate with team on execution of strategic communication plans
- Support rollout of refreshed corporate branding and ensure all communication materials adhere to new brand guidelines
- Brainstorm engaging and impactful content to share internally and externally
- Foster a positive and informed company culture through effective internal communication initiatives, particularly through collaborating with the HR team
- Monitor corporate social media channels and provide day-to-day support
- Monitor the main Madrigal Info intake inbox and filter inquiries
- Patient Advocacy:
- Assist in the patient advocacy grants and sponsorship review process, including tracking status of submissions, monitoring budget, and managing approvals and payments
- Coordinate consulting agreements for patient and caregiver engagements and ensure timely payments of honorarium and expense reimbursements
- Provide ad hoc support for advocacy engagement at key medical conferences, such as AASLD, EASL, and Liver Connect
- Develop and maintain an internal calendar of advocacy partner community events
- Event Management/Administrative:
- Support planning, project management, logistics and execution of corporate events, including onsite Town Halls and company-hosted patient advocacy events
- Act as the Accounts Payable liaison, managing invoice processing and payments
- Coordinate and manage scheduling for team meetings, partner calls, and rescheduling vendor calls when conflicts occur
- Oversee Legal-Medical-Regulatory submissions for materials requiring review, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the process
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field or equivalent
- 2-4 years of communications experience in a healthcare setting (biopharmaceutical company, healthcare organization or agency)
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, including writing for an internal audience and writing for social media and our external website
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including slide development in PowerPoint as a major plus
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently when needed in a multi-faceted, dynamic, deadline-oriented environment
- Experience supporting internal communication efforts, especially during a time of growth where team- and culture
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
