The Sr. Field Director, Clinical Practice Liaisons will spend the majority of their time working closely with the direct reports on the Clinical Practice Liaison Team (CPL) (hiring, coaching, developing, assessing vs objectives and engaging) to ensure all direct reports fully understand their roles and how their work relates to the broader goals and objectives of the organization, their activities are fully compliant with Madrigal policies and procedures, field tactical plans are executed and key needs from the field are identified, escalated and addressed to optimize the performance and engagement of the field medical colleagues.

An important aspect of this role will be the regular and compliant interface with both internal stakeholders (marketing, sales leadership, market access, HQ medical affairs, clinical operations) and external customers (healthcare professionals, practice managers, healthcare system decision makers and others).

The ideal candidate for this role will be located on the East Coast.

Position Responsibilities: 
  • With Field Medical leadership team, responsible for development and execution of the field medical strategy and tactical plan for identified healthcare professionals, clinical practices
  • Establishment of objective measures to evaluate the clinical impact of the CPL Team
  • Collaborate with the Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Med Affairs Health Systems, commercial organization, operations, and other stakeholders to support field educational needs
  • Responsible for CPL activities at US congresses including partnering with MSLs to ensure booth logistics, facilitating scientific communications, gathering competitive intelligence, and facilitating the development of pre- and post- conference scientific materials
  • Responsible for mapping company and clinical practices needs, building the justification for future CPL role expansion
  • Identify key deliverables, insights, and metrics that highlight the value of the CPL organization
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management and development of all direct reports
  • Remain current on scientific trends and therapeutics landscapes in metabolic associated steatotic liver disease/ non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (MASLD/NASH)
  • Remain aware, up to date and compliant with all Madrigal policies and procedures regarding engagement of internal stakeholders as well as external customers
  • Actively contribute to the Extended Medical Affairs Leadership Team to continue to ensure that Madrigal Medical Affairs is providing the strategic partnership needed by our customers and our company
  • Ensure field medical activities and scientific interactions are compliant with all legal, regulatory and Madrigal policies and procedures
  • Ability to travel as needed to support medical affairs needs including attendance at key congresses (travel is highly variable but can vary between 25% to 75%)
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Advanced scientific/healthcare degree (e.g., MD/DO, PharmD, PhD, DNP, DPAS etc.) or life sciences degree and meaningful healthcare setting experience
  • 5+ years of relevant clinical practice / medical affairs experience, including at least 3 years of field medical experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or equivalent
  • 1+ year prior leadership/people management or equivalent leadership development required
  • Ability to understand and convey emergent scientific information
  • Knowledge of and experience in clinical medicine, disease management and medical research in at least one therapeutic area (metabolism or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis strongly preferred)
  • Excellent understanding of Gastroenterology/Hepatology clinical practice, Healthcare System and relevant research procedures as well as FDA and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong understanding of US regulatory standards for field medical affairs activities in the US
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management and execution skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communications, presentations and execution on task skills
  • Good organizational skills, including efficiency, punctuality and collaboration in a team environment
  • Proficiency with common software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint) as well as virtual interaction software (e.g. Zoom) and CRM platforms (e.g. Veeva)
  • Within the Madrigal Competency framework, CPL Sr. Field Director will
