Director of Pricing and Contract Operations
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.

Reports To: Executive Director, Pricing & Contract Operations
The Director of Pricing and Contract Operations will oversee strategic and operational elements of pricing, contracting, and government compliance for the Market Access team within a pharmaceutical organization. This role supports critical initiatives, including contracting activities, Gross-to-Net (GTN) forecasting, and Government Pricing (GP) compliance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and operational expertise to maximize revenue opportunities while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Position Responsibilities:
Pricing & Contracting Operations
- Support the development and execution of contracting strategies across Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and other government channels.
- Oversee end-to-end contract lifecycle management, including offer evaluation/financial modeling, contract negotiation, execution, and performance monitoring.
- Provide analytical support for Market Access filed teams.
- Communicate appropriate chargeback price changes (340B, VA/DOD etc..) to Third Party Logistics (3PL) providier
- Coordinate processing, review and payment of rebate packages with Third Party Vendor.
- Support the development of GTN forecasts by analyzing pricing and contract data to assess impacts on revenue.
- Partner with Finance and Forecasting teams to provide insights into rebate liabilities, accruals, and discount programs for forecast, budget and monthly close activities.
- Identify key drivers of GTN variances and recommend adjustments to optimize pricing and contracting strategies.
- Ensure compliance with government pricing programs, including Medicaid, Medicare Part B, and the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
- Manage the calculation, validation, and reporting of government price points (AMP, BP, ASP, etc.) in line with applicable regulations as performed by Third Party Vendor.
- Partner with Compliance and Legal teams to stay current on legislative and regulatory changes that impact government/state pricing and reporting.
- Act as a key liaison between Market Access, Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Commercial teams to align strategies and resolve operational challenges.
- Support the development of pricing policies, governance frameworks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor industry trends, competitive pricing, and market dynamics to identify opportunities for innovation and optimization in pricing and contracting strategies.
- Utilize advanced analytics to evaluate contracting scenarios, pricing models, and GTN outcomes to guide decision-making.
- Lead special projects related to pricing and access, including value-based contracting and innovative payment models.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 8–10 years of experience in pricing, contracting, or market access roles within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Proven expertise in managing government pricing programs and Gross-to-Net forecasting.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical pricing strategies, contract management, and government compliance requirements.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with experience leveraging data for decision-making.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and analytics tools (Excel, SQL, Tableau, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work across diverse teams and levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Up to 15% travel required
- Timely and accurate execution of contracts and pricing strategies.
- Compliance with all regulatory requirements for government pricing and reporting.
- Optimization of GTN performance and minimization of revenue leakage.
- Successful collaboration and alignment with cross-functional teams on pricing and market access initiatives.
Compensation:
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
