Director, US Forecasting
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.
Role Overview:
The Director, U.S. Strategy and Analytics will serve as a strategic leader and in-house consultant, executing U.S. forecasting initiatives to guide critical decision-making. This role involves analyzing the evolving NASH market landscape, generating actionable insights, and deploying prevalence/incidence-based forecasting models to support commercial strategy and optimize market performance. The Director will manage a team of consultants and report to the Senior Director, Commercial Strategy & Operations.
Position Responsibilities:
- U.S. Forecast Development: Lead and maintain U.S.-focused patient flow forecasts, providing critical insights on market risks and opportunities to drive commercial strategy and decision-making.
- Long-Range Planning: Oversee the annual U.S. long-range planning process for demand and revenue forecasts.
- Financial Leadership Support: Prepare financial materials, analysis, and reports for Board of Directors meetings and coordinate financial forecast reviews with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), ensuring all data is accurate, relevant, and actionable while providing critical insights to drive decision-making.
- Annual Budget Process: Lead the development and execution of the annual budgeting process, ensuring timelines, templates, and deliverables are clearly communicated across all departments.
- Forecasting Cycles: Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts to ensure accurate and timely updates to financial projections. Develop three-year forecasting views to provide strategic insights to support long-term planning.
- Process Optimization: Continuously refine financial calendar processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration across teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with FP&A, Accounting, and operational teams to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and ensure seamless execution of financial calendar activities.
- Market Analysis: Analyze U.S. market trends and extract insights to inform brand strategies and deliver actionable recommendations.
- Analytical Tools: Develop and implement accurate analytical tools, forecast models, and processes tailored to U.S. market needs.
- Performance Insights: Identify U.S. business issues, risks, and opportunities ahead of routine reviews, such as Board meetings, quarterly performance updates, and forecast reviews.
- Operational Support: Deliver commercial insights to finance and supply chain teams to optimize U.S. planning efforts.
- Vendor Management: Oversee U.S.-focused market research, competitive intelligence, and analytics projects with external vendors.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with internal U.S.-based stakeholders, including marketing, finance, medical, and supply chain, fostering alignment and driving results.
- Strategic Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong internal and external partnerships to uncover critical U.S. insights and address organizational needs.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MSc, MBA, Ph.D.) strongly preferred.
- Experience: 8-10 years of professional experience (6-8 years with an advanced degree) in marketing, finance, forecasting, analytics, or management consulting, with a strong focus on the U.S. market.
- Demonstrated expertise in U.S. commercial forecasting, advanced analytics, and consulting, with proven strengths in problem-solving, data-driven insights, and impactful communication.
- Exceptional project management capabilities, with a proven ability to lead multiple U.S.-focused projects within tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Tableau, with a strong aptitude for creating clear and actionable visualizations.
- Track record of successfully supporting senior leadership with U.S. market forecasting and strategic analytics.
- Experience managing external vendors, particularly for U.S. market research, competitive intelligence, and analytics projects.
- Experience in immunology, cardiovascular, or metabolic disease therapeutic areas.
- Results-driven self-starter with a strong sense of accountability, performance orientation, and the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Familiarity with U.S. market secondary data sources, research methodologies, and advanced analytics techniques.
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands.
