We are seeking a dynamic and visionary AI and Data Science Leader to spearhead the power of artificial intelligence and data science within our organization. As the AI and Data Science Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our company by driving strategic initiatives, developing innovative solutions, and leading a team of talented professionals. Your leadership will be instrumental in achieving our ambitious goal of 10X productivity enhancement through automation and AI, while also driving effective change management to ensure widespread adoption of AI technologies.

Preferred location: Waltham, MA or Conshohocken, PA

Position Responsibilities: 
 
1. Strategy Development:
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute a comprehensive AI and data science strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives, leveraging advanced AI technologies such as LLMs and deep learning frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging AI and data science across various functions, including drug discovery, clinical trials, manufacturing, commercial operations, and corporate functions, to drive efficiency and innovation.
2. Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and AI specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members in the design, development, and deployment of AI-driven solutions aimed at automating repetitive tasks and streamlining workflows.
3. Project Management:
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of AI and data science projects focused on productivity enhancement, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Manage resources effectively, prioritize competing demands, and mitigate risks to project success, with a relentless focus on achieving tangible productivity gains.
4. Change Management and Adoption:
  • Develop and implement change management strategies to drive the adoption of AI technologies across the organization, ensuring buy-in from key stakeholders and addressing resistance to change.
  • Lead training and education initiatives to upskill employees on AI concepts, tools, and best practices, fostering a culture of AI literacy and empowerment.
5. Partnership Development:
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with external organizations, including academic institutions, research consortia, and technology vendors, to access cutting-edge expertise and capabilities in automation and AI.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI and data science solutions into existing workflows and systems seamlessly, driving adoption and maximizing impact.
6. Innovation and Research:
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and data science, evaluating their potential to drive productivity improvements within the biotech industry.
  • Drive innovation through the exploration of novel techniques, algorithms, and methodologies applicable to our specific productivity challenges, with a focus on delivering transformative results.

Qualifications and Skills:
 
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master's) in computer science, statistics, bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of leadership in AI, machine learning, or data science, preferably within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, and adding measurable business value via production AI and ML.
  • Strong technical proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, as well as experience with relevant frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn), and LLM’s / GPT’s and prompt engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Deep understanding of biotech processes, data types, and regulatory requirements, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for driving innovation and a commitment to delivering tangible business outcomes through AI and data science, with a specific focus on achieving 10X productivity gains.
  • Experience in change management and driving adoption of AI technologies within large organizations.

Compensation:

Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
